Water Hawker Gets N1m Gift From Politician

Uche Nwosu, a son-in-law to a former governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has donated N1m to 26- year- old Mary Daniel, the Lagos amputee water hawker.

Daniel’s photographs had gone viral on social media where she was seen selling sachet water on the streets of Lagos to make ends meet.

According to her, not hawking meant starvation for her, her child, and her granddaughter.

The Kogi State-born lady lost her parents and one of her legs to a road crash when she was 11years.

Luck, however, smiled on her on Sunday, when Nwosu, a gubernatorial candidate in Imo State in the 2019 elections under the Action Alliance, gave her N1m to establish a business of her choice.

While urging other Nigerians to assist the lady, Nwosu said “Daniel has demonstrated the kind of I can-make-it spirit which Nigerians were known for.”
